It's a name that will forever be synonymous with DVD rental, and Blockbuster wisely chose to branch out into an online service in 2002. Online DVD rental from Blockbuster has developed significantly, and the introduction of a subscription service in 2004 greatly improved the service.
Blockbuster online is home to around 65,000 titles, which is pretty impressive, and there are plenty of pre-owned games and movies to purchase for a ridiculously low price. Whilst the website is not overly pleasing in an aesthetic sense, it does the job and is user-friendly. The Blockbuster Blog is reasonably informative and entertaining, although the format looks a little rushed.
Blockbuster customers can enjoy a fairly swift DVD turnaround thanks to 1st class postage, but this is still a lot slower than going into a store and picking the latest non-linear bloodbath from Tarantino off the shelf. Blockbuster does promote 'No Late Fess', which is always a positive, and the bonus discs (if applicable) will also be included. Blockbuster boasts a unique selling point - Blockbuster exclusives. Popular past exclusives include the Willis-led action vehicle Surrogates, brain-eating bonanza Zombieland and heart-wrenching masterpiece Changeling with Angelina Jolie. These films are available from Blockbuster first, but do eventually see general release.
A dirt cheap trial period, regularly satisfied customers and a brand name recognised globally all help to put the Blockbuster cat amongst the online DVD rental pigeons. Blockbuster may not be the outright best, but it is a reliable choice with plenty to offer.
You can receive a 14 day blockbuster DVD rental trial but don't forget to compare dvd rental packages online before you sign up.
